Years ago, we told you on our program about civilian truckers and others who were in Iraq, supporting the military.
In that case, it was the so-called “Iron Pony Express,” civilian truckers who were delivering mail to the various military personnel serving in the war zone.
Many of the truckers, as with many of the other civilians, were veterans themselves, and all felt a close connection to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines they served alongside.
In sending the care packages paid for by Truckers for Troops, OOIDA targeted troops – as they name would suggest. But we’ve discovered that the troops – known for generosity and sharing – have included some of their civilian counterparts when passing out the contents.
This thank-you letter came from one of those people
I am a ASE certified Master Truck Mechanic working overseas.
Not too long ago, a care package came in here where I work. We work closely with the military and are in direct support of them.
The next day, I noticed a letter inside of the box that had this e-mail on it and explained a little about your organization.
Well, I felt compelled to write you folks and let you know that it did in fact make it here. I do believe the most enjoyed items in there were the Hunter Sausage and the Honey Roasted Peanuts, LOL.
I do not know how often you get feedback, but I think that you folks are doing a very good thing.
I myself am a Gulf War vet. Anyway, I just thought someone should write and let y’all know this.
