‘It is comforting to know that so many … remember us’

Here’s another in a series of thank-you letters from the military personnel who receive care packages through OOIDA Truckers for Troops, paid for by your donations.

We’ve often written about the way members of our military look out for each other.

It’s apparent in the field, in the way they look after each other between missions, and in the way they share the contents of care packages as well.

Of course, it’s the job of some in the military to look out for others – including inside the various medical facilities that care for the wounded, from those in the field and behind the lines, to the military hospitals right here on the home front.

It turns out one of our care packages went to a hospital unit. And we heard back from them in this thank-you letter.

On behalf of the Soldiers assigned to the 115th Combat Support Hospital, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the care packages OOIDA Truckers for Troops has sent to us.

It is comforting to know that so many individuals such as yourself have taken the time to remember us and send items to boost our morale.

Although we would all like to be able to sit down and personally write a letter to each of you individually, it is not always possible due to the mission.

We would, however, like you to know that the items received from all of you – including toiletries, books, games, movies, CDs, clothing and snacks – are not going to waste.

We put these items out for all soldiers, sailors and marines who are either staff at the hospital or admitted as patients to enjoy at their leisure … and they are well received.

Again, thank you so much for all that you have done and continue to do to support the Troops.

We would not be able to do what we do each day without the support you and others like you.

As we hear from members of our military who received care packages from OOIDA’s Truckers for Troops effort, we will share them with you on our Web site.

OOIDA’s fifth annual Truckers for Troops Telethon is running on Land Line Now all this week. The effort raises money to send care packages to service personnel stationed in combat zones overseas, primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan. Check out our industry calendar at www.landlinenow.com for details.
