Here’s another in a series of thank-you letters from the military personnel who receive care packages through OOIDA Truckers for Troops, paid for by your donations.
We all know the words. Man does not live by bread alone.
The well-worn words carry an important meaning – that our spiritual side needs as much tending as our physical needs do.
That’s something military chaplains are all too familiar with.
But it’s also a big part of the reason for all care packages – including the ones sent out as part of OOIDA’s Truckers for Troops.
Turns out in one case, those two sides came together – and we received a letter about it.
On behalf of the soldiers of the 504th Military Police Battalion, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your gifts of candy, personal hygiene items and snacks.
While keeping the force fed and clean, you have also helped us to have great conversations that have ranged from “checking in” to sitting down and working through some of life’s greatest challenges.
The result of your generosity has been that soldiers have left our offices with their material needs met, but also their emotional and spiritual needs met as well.
You may never meet the people you have served this year, but rest assured, you have changed lives for the better.
For God and Country,
Captain Robert W. Sterling
US Army
Battalion Chaplain
As we hear from members of our military who received care packages from OOIDA’s Truckers for Troops effort, we will share them with you on our Web site.
A quick reminder: OOIDA’s fifth annual Truckers for Troops Telethon is scheduled for December 5th through the 9th. The effort raises money to send care packages to service personnel stationed in combat zones overseas, primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan.
