Bills target trains in South Carolina

Mary McKenna reports that trains in South Carolina could soon be paying a lot more for blocking roads if a new bill is signed into law. The bill, introduced by Representative Todd Rutherford, would set fines at $5000 per lane blocked – and the fine would double to $10,000 if it happens between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. And a second bill would cover four lane intersections blocked for more than five minutes in a one-hour period, specifically during high traffic times in the morning, lunch time and late afternoon. Both bills are in committee. Read more from Land Line Magazine, South Carolina bills target trains obstructing roadways. Air date: Jan. 11, 2018.
