California focus group – The California Department of Transportation is conducting two focus groups, and truckers are invited to apply to participate. Truckers will give their input on California’s roadside rest areas and will be paid $100 for their participation, which should take a maximum of two hours. The first meeting is set for Dec. 4 in Fresno, CA, with the second set for Dec. 6 in Ontario, CA. If you are interested in participating, call (916) 487-5109. I-80 toll meeting – Truckers and the general public are invited to attend a Chamber of Commerce symposium with panel discussions about tolling I-80. It is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in Clarion, PA, at the Zion Baptist Church, 114 Zion Road. The church is three miles south of the I-80 Clarion Exit 62 on Route 68. The Clarion Chamber of Commerce has arranged for truck parking at the All American Plaza located off I-80 at exit 70. Indiana APU tax credits – A bill in the Indiana legislature would give truckers a tax credit equal to 20 percent of the purchase and installation cost of an auxiliary power unit.
