Employee ID Number – Joe Shewmaker of OOIDA’s Business Services Department spoke today about filing form 2290. If you need to get an EIN (Employee Identification Number), you can call 1-800-829-4933, or click here and then click on the Employee Identification Number link. Air date: July 26, 2006.

Form 2290 – Joe Shewmaker of OOIDA’s Business Services Department spoke about filing form 2290 with the IRS. If last year’s 2290 did not get filed or paid under the owner’s EIN, or employee identification number, then the form will be mailed to the EIN the tax was filed or paid under the previous year. This means that the trucker involved may not have received the form in the mail. If you think you may be facing that problem, you can call 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676) or go online to www.irs.gov to get a current copy of form 2290. For questions, truckers can call the form 2290 call site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday. The number is 866-699-4096. Air date: July 26, 2006

Brokers and paperwork – Kip Hough of OOIDA’s Member Assistance Department talked about what information brokers are legally required to provide truckers, including paperwork.
