Working with brokers – Rick Craig, Joe Rajkovacz and Jami Jones analyzed the TIA’s model contract for brokers, pointing out some of its pitfalls for truckers. The OOIDA Web site offers guidance on how to deal with brokers – to view that file, click here. Air date: June 27, 2006.

Idle-reduction grantsWisconsin is offering $1 million in idling reduction grants to owner-operators who want to purchase APUs or other idling reduction technology. Hot fuel – Are you familiar with the issue of hot fuel? Lumping survey – Joe Rajkovacz and Larry Green of OOIDA have discussed lumping recently on the show, and OOIDA is looking for truckers' input on the topic. HME Bill – U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-MO, introduced a bill to fix some of the problems truckers have with hazmat background checks. To read the bill, click here. Contacting Lawmakers – In a response to our “Listener Comment Line,” we encouraged truckers to call their U.S. senators and representatives about tax incentives for idling alternative devices. Ontario Parliament considers speed limiter bill - A request to require speed limiters for all trucks doing business in Ontario is one step closer to becoming law, following the introduction of a bill to the provincial legislature.
